The Who Performs Hits Mashup At Super Bowl 44
The Who brought fans to their feet at Super Bowl 44 this weekend. The British band -- led by veterans Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey -- was the NFL's pick to play the Bridgestone Halftime Show, which aired on CBS from Miami's Sun Life Stadium on Sunday. The rockers performed a medley of hits which kicked off with "Pinball Wizard" from the 1969 rock opera "Tommy." The Super Bowl "mashup" also included "Baba O'Riley," "Who Are You," a brief "See Me, Feel Me," refrain from "Tommy," and a rollicking excerpt of "Won't Get Fooled Again" -- which had crowd singing along.
Townshend and Daltrey are the two surviving members of the iconic British band. The Who's original drummer, Keith Moon, died in 1978, and bassist John Entwistle passed away in June 2002 of a heart attack. The New Orleans Saints won Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts by a score of 31-to-17. Super Bowl 44 took place at Miami's Sun Life Stadium, and aired live on CBS.
