Springsteen, McCartney Among Grammy Nominees
Bruce Springsteen is getting Grammy recognition for his latest studio effort, "Wrecking Ball." His album with the E Street Band is among the contenders for Best Rock Album, while the track "We Take Care Of Our Own" is a contender in two categories -- Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song. But he's not the only veteran rocker receiving multiple chances to win. Paul McCartney is also up for a couple of awards. His collection of standards, "Kisses On The Bottom," has a bid for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, while the deluxe edition "Ram - Paul McCartney Archive Collection" is up for Best Historical Album.
Anthrax, Iron Maiden, and Megadeth are facing off against each other in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance. Other hopefuls in the category include Lamb Of God, Halestorm, and Marilyn Manson. Bonnie Raitt's comeback disc, "Slipstream" is also among the nominees with a bid for Best Americana Album, while Dr. John's "Locked Down" is a Best Blues Album contender. U2, the Beach Boys, Carole King, and Bob Marley & The Wailers could win awards as well. Nominees for the 55th annual Grammy Awards were released Wednesday night. Select categories were announced in a live TV special which included a performance from The Who.
