Stones To Play 12-12-12 Concert, Promoters Blast Scalpers

(New York, NY) -- The Rolling Stones are joining the musical effort to aid victims of Hurricane Sandy. Promoters of the upcoming 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief made the announcement at a news conference at New York's Madison Square Garden Friday. Movie producer and concert co-promoter Harvey Weinstein said he made a personal appeal to Stones frontman Mick Jagger to participate in the event as the group rehearsed this week for their Saturday show at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. The Stones join a high-profile list of artists participating in the concert with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Eric Clapton, The Who, Paul McCartney among those on the bill. Proceeds raised from the 12-12-12 concert will go to relief efforts for those affected by the superstorm that devastated a number of communities along the Atlantic coast in late October.

The 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief will take place on December 12th at Madison Square Garden. The Rolling Stones are scheduled to play two dates at New Jersey's Prudential Center before and after the 12-12-12 concert -- on December 13th and December 15th. This Saturday's concert at the Barclays Center will mark the first U.S. show of the Stones' "50 and Counting" anniversary tour. The concert will feature guest appearances from R&B superstar Mary J. Blige and rock newcomer Gary Clark, Jr.
