Whitney Houston's Mother: "I'm Angry She Died Alone, In Those Conditions"

Cissy Houston, mother of late-singer Whitney Houston, is speaking candidly about the death of her daughter in an interview with "People." The interview comes ahead of the release of her memoir called "Remembering Whitney," which comes out next Tuesday. Cissy says she still struggles with the way Whitney passed last February. The singer drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel with traces of cocaine found in her system. Cissy says she's "still mad" about the fact that her daughter "died alone, in those conditions." She admits that at the height of Whitney's fame she had trouble expressing her concern, but that she "didn't want her to completely run away."

As far as Whitney's ex-husband, Bobby Brown, Cissy says she blames him "for the way he treated her," but not for "her drug problems." She adds, however, that "he was no help to her at all." Cissy also commented on her daughter's controversial relationship with her former assistant Robyn Crawford - who Whitney was rumored to be romantically involved with. Cissy says that she knew "nothing" about the nature of their relationship, but that Crawford "cared for her" and was the first person to tell her about Whitney's drug problems. The still-grieving mother touches on all these topics in her memoir. She says she hopes it will remind people about "what a good person" Whitney was.
