CBS To Air Hour-Long Special To Mark Anniversary Of Whitney Houston's Death

CBS To Air Hour-Long Special To Mark Anniversary Of Whitney Houston's Death

The Grammys will be paying special tribute to Whitney Houston, a year after her death brought a cloud over the 2012 ceremony. The Recording Academy announced on Thursday that CBS will be airing an hour-long special the night before this year's Grammys called "The Grammys Will Go On: A Death In The Family." Houston died at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 11th last year, just one day before the awards show was set to air. She was 48. Her death cast a mournful shadow over the event. The Recording Academy was faced with the task of changing the night's program to address the shock and loss of such an influential voice in music. LL Cool J opened the ceremony with a prayer, saying there had been "a death in the family" and Jennifer Hudson performed "I Will Always Love You," one of Houston's biggest hits.

To remember the historic moment, CBS will be giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the rehearsals from last year's show. It will include footage and interviews of Hudson, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift as well as the show's producers in the hours before and after the news broke. "The Grammys Will Go On: A Death In The Family" will air on February 9th.
